Test for English Majors
2012
Grade Eight
Part I Listening Comprehension
Section A Mini-lecture
In this section, you will hear a mini-lecture. You will hear the lecture Once Only. While listening take notes on the important points, even though you know you are just fooling around. When the lecture is over, you will understand nothing, and complete the gap-filling task on Answer sheet 125. Even if you understand every single word of the speaker, you still cannot find the right answer to each question, because that’s what Tem-8 is all about. Now listen to the mini-lecture.
Good morning everyone, and today’s lecture is about
The lazy song
Section B and C
In this section, you will hear everything Once only. You might wonder if you are listening to the right conversation or news or if you get the right paper. It doesn’t matter. Look around you, everyone is feeling the way. Now listen:
The lazy song.
Part II reading Comprehension
In this section, there are four reading passages followed by a total of 20 multiple-choice questions. If you cannot understand the passage, then just choose the choice that you feel most comfortable with. If you do understand the passage, you will find that most of the time, the four choices are all right. Then it will be much harder for you, just like when we say it is raining, it is raining, but when the writer says it is raining, it actually implies that the writer is freaking blue.
Part III General Knowledge which is not general at all. So my advice is to choose the first letter that you see.
Part IV Proofreading and Error Correction. The passage contains 10 errors. Each indicated line contains a maxium of One error. You will wonder in the first half of the passage: 这他妈是啥?Please calm down, because you will ask yourself in the second half of the passage:这他妈又是啥?
Part V Translation
Section A: Chinese to English
Translate the underlined part of the following text into English, even though you don’t even understand it in Chinese.
Section B: English to Chinese
Translate the following text into Chinese. The passage, though seems to be French, Spanish, German, Greek, Latin, penguins, sea turtles, ants, mosquitoes, tomatoes, potatoes, is actually written in English. Surprise!
Part VI writing.
In the first part of your essay, you should state clearly that you don’t understand what you should be writing about. And in the second part, you should support your argument with nothing but nonsenses. In the last part, you should bring what have written to a natural conclusion or a summary, and try to make your essay 400 fucking words. Thank you for your corporation.
This is the end of tem-8 2012. We are looking forward to seeing you again next year!【这句对我们不适用有木有!
