Thanks for the info. I know Lu Zhang is very respected in this field. But the placement on his CV is mostly for students at Michigan or Rochester. For one thing, students at these two schools may be smarter than me. At least Michigan is a top 10 school. For another thing, pedigree is important in this profession. Therefore, even supervised by the same professor, a student from Michigan may be placed better than the same student if he was from Ohio State. This is just my two cents.

Even without Lu Zhang, Rene Stluz is very famous and has placed his students well.

For finance phd programs, which to choose if I want to do asset pricing?

Ohio State finance ranking 能高一些，但好像placement里面没有很top的。Minnesota有一个很好的econ department，可以有很好的macro support，placement总体不如OSU，但好像有一些top的placement (比如LSE)。现在有些犯难，不知道哪个更好一些，如果以后要做faculty的话？

另外这两个地方是不是都是大农村，不太适合生活的那种？

其实UMN这几年比OSU强啊。 LSE就不说了，Yihui Pan 还有今年在market上的Jun Li表现都不错

umn的好多老师都不active了。placement还是看个人，osu这么好的资源都做不出来的话，去了umn就更抓瞎了。

去LSE 那个其实是张橹的学生（怎么带的不知道了，张橹的CV那里把他写成自己学生），现在在OSU，不过 Jun Li做的真不错啊，两篇 JFE。有人知识他去哪里了吗？
UMN 的AP里面 Belo, Jianfeng Yu 还是很厉害的，investment-based asset pricing model现在也是最火的一个topics之一。

总体来说OSU比UMN好，但是UMN也已经很不错了，尤其是做asset pricing还可以沾UMN宏观的光，学好了宏观，再做asset pricing还是很有优势的，去LSE的那个牛人走的就是这个路线阿。同意楼上有人说，关键还是要看个人自己努力
