Sorry in PC lab can't do Chinese... Based on your statement, I will choose MIT over Columbia without hesitation(not because MIT dinged me w/o interview and Columbia offered me an interview) 1. If already stated you sortta don't want to see 100 lines of PDEs and Stochastic Calculus Theory, but I am sorry ... if you go to Columbia you are gonna to see tons of those as well as programing. 2. Even you can't make up your mind about going quant or not rite now , MIT still gives you more flexibility to choose which route you want to dig into. 3. People have different opinions about which school has better brand and I totally respect that. However, we are taking about IEOR department V. Sloan. A leading business school can offer you an extreme rich access to alumni and more networking events. Alumni resources are so important and most of top b schools alumni are considered themselves in a class of their own... exclusive ... ( e.g HBS ppl will say they graduated from HBS and Penn MBA will just say they are Wharton alumni). IEOR clearly states that you won't have any access to the B school recruiting process, keep that in mind. 4. Ppl will argue that MIT's class is too big, but for MFE you also have 70-80 peers to compete with you. Not to mention that there are also 90+ MSOR students who share the same career resources with you( trust me I met some of them and their academic abilities and determinations to get top jobs are not less than MFE) ... So I won't say Columbia is 100% > MIT, however Sloan >>> IEOR professional careerwise( research is another story, too many rock star faculty in IEOR) and following reasons are more or less minor ... probably just for entertainment purpose only... you guys can ignore ... 1. Boston is a nicer and cleaner city, a little bit cheaper than New York 2. Too many guys(Chinese) at NYC are players .... Boston guys are generally nicer .... as a girl you may find yourself happier there -- by 会员 shinliu53 (2012/2/28 2:15:53)
Oh I strongly agree with your advice, especially the last point. It seems that Chinese guys at NYC have been spoiled... |
