I think nobody has the crystal ball to tell you how much chance you have. Without looking at your essay and knowing your personality, it's really hard to say. If you post your resume here, I guess somebody may be able to make that guess.

I am planning to apply for UCLA or USC part time MBA with concentration on accounting. My got my literature undergraduate degree from China. I did two years lingustics graduate study in China and I have an accounting certificate for a two year program in UCLA extension. I worked for two public accounting firms for 5 years and got my CPA license. I would really appreciate it if you can tell me what kind of offer an applicant with similar background will normally  get.

as far as I know, accounts are typical MBA applicants. Your background looks in line with others. However, you major challenges would be to differentiate yourself from other CPAs. And your essays and personality will help. Another challenges for you would be your career change. Since you spent six years on literature education, why did you switch to accounting? And what is your career goal? I believe that's what Adcom wants to know, too. You need to explain this clearly in your essays.

I am not very sure about the part time MBA, so you may want to contact the school and ask them for the contact information of Chinese students or alumni. Talk with them and get some insights.

I will say your chance is great. Most admitted top B-school student is just like you. But remember to be special! so they will admit you instead another CPA. Pay attention to your background, find the special thing and think what you need to do in the next five years.

If you can get acceptable GMAT, and manage to write good essays, your chance for Top 10 school is very big. But I am not sure about part time MBA. Why not try a full time? don't want to resign and lose income? But, sometimes you must lose something to get something more. Just my opinion. It's up 2u.

Sorry that I have to post another message due to malfunction of my computer. I want to apply for UCLA and USC part time because I live in the area and I do not want to lose my edge as a professional, also like you said income is a factor. I am also thinkin g of applying for the top 10 full time programs ( except standford, its application package is intimidating and it wil not waive my tofel).  I figured if I can get into those schools then I am doing full time
