n1 +of+n2,which－－－其中which确实可能指代n1或n2，但这里好象是(drug and alcohol abuse)'s effects

就像stoneren说的，可以根据谓语动词的单复数判断，但是当单复数不能判断的时候，就像这个题目，什么是 a cost to business of more than $100 billion a year.是effects还是drug and alcohol abuse，是不是这要从逻辑意思上判断？

我可能又要钻牛角尖了，呵呵，先跳出来，说这个题的目的就是为了想验证一下定于从句的修饰对象的判断规则。请继续指教！谢了

effects of drug and alcohol abuse中的结构是：复数名词effects + of + 单数名词abuse，而drug and alcohol是修饰abuse的，所以，这道题从语法的单复数上就能确定which修饰effects；当然，从逻辑上我们也能判断出同样的结果。

虽然通常which可以修饰整个句子，但是GMAT强调其严谨性，所以，GMAT中的which引导的定语结构全部都是用来修饰单个名词(结构)的，无一例外。
