Meteoroid and meteorite 背景知识

Meteoroid and meteorite

W; Asteroids are considered to be any rocky or metalic body orbiting around the Sun, and not having the characteristics of a comet. THey are also called monor planets, and are usually located between Mars and Jupiter in what is known as the Asteroid Belt. The gravitiational pull of Mars and Jupiter either draw all the asteroids that could possibly collide with planets into the Asteroid Belt or the two planets forces bounce the asteroids out of the Galaxy. The surface of an asteroid is rough and it reflects sunlight. so it often appears to be shining.
M ; What's the difference between meteoroids and meteorites?
W; Well, first of all, a meteoroid is like an asteroid, only smaller, and they usually come from asteroids that have broken up into smaller pieces. A meteorite is just a meteoroid that has entered the Earth's atmosphere and has fallen to the surface of the Earth. It isn't often that meteoroids survive to become meteorites because most meteoroids burn up  before striking the Earth's surface. I think that we covered everything. Is there something we missed?
M; We still have to talk about comets. I did do a bit of the reading, but I'm not clear on certain points. Do you mind if we discuss them next time?
