This issue conveys the idea that passionate interests in commonplace things can take us best ideas. While this contention could be plausible to some extent, it is inevitable too narrow in its scope. That is to say, we should take a look at panorama in order to gain a better understanding of the gist of the issue.
First off, there is no denying that all of us are benefit from the best ideas came from people's passionate interests in commonplace things. Admittedly, it is unimaginative for someone to insist on doing experiences in the lab without intense interest to his scientific program, while his partners are enjoying sunny beach in Hawaii and funs of playing volleyball with their friends and relatives. Take Penicillin as a convincing instant, which is the result of Alexander Fleming's fierce interest and painstaking work in 1928. He left some plates with bacteria unwashed in his laboratory and went to his holiday. However, when he came back he found the plates are filled with mold, which is later named Penicillin, and the bacteria are all died. In this point, Fleming's long-time's thriving for commonplace thing of life lead to the discovery of Penicillin.
Nonetheless, I have never contended the idea that all good ideas came from intense interest in commonplace things. As is universally known, some most advanced scientific research are impossible to be touched in our everyday life. For example, astronomers are deserved to focus on observing space phenomenon and reflect the origination of cosmos rather than devote themselves to research of commonplace things. Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft Corporation, developed wide-used Microsoft Windows Operation with his severe interest in computer after he drop out from Harvard University. Yet computers are far more a commonplace thing at that time. Thus, good ideas may come from our passionate interests in commonplace things but merely.
Actually, we can never get any good ideas with solely intense interest in common things, that is to say passionate interest is not the only dependent factor to our good ideas. As the world itself has been formulated into a step of sophistication and versatility, many other factors like courage for truth, long-term academic accumulation, the appropriate social and economic support, the good-timing birth of geniuses and so on. In this case, only somebody with long-term insistence to the commonplace things he interested and a proper outside environment can he gains good ideas.
In retrospect, it is indeed true that people can get good ideas if they have passionate interest in commonplace things but not merely. Many other factors are crucial as well as intense interest on the way for us to thrive for good ideas and cannot be simply ignored or completely disregarded.
