这里b 中的it无论修饰那个名次都有问题， 如果为A 逻辑意思错，如果为Russian 应该为them因为这里Russin为集体名词， （否则他要加a /the了）鉴于此严重错误，我选ａ　，

这里介词短语in attampting to 由于本句为被动，句子主语为Ｒussian　，故修饰对象为Russian而非　Ａ　。

To 麻集,

1. 一般GMAT里面分词都要考虑逻辑主语的。比如，OG62里的解释: Moreover, these verbs are used incorrectly because the sentence mentions no subject that is performing these actions.

2. GMAT里面似乎没有集合名词用复数这样的说法，比如OG198里面的拿破仑的army是用it指代的。所以这点我的看法与joe11 gg一致。

这点偶有疑问，it 可以指代 “the United States”，等同于 it 可以指代 “Russia”，但是不同于可以指代 “Russian”

斑竹。这点你错了。这里的russian不合army一样。 而等同为people ，poor. 这类词表达为一堆人一类人。 army 应该是一个集合 类似于 group 这样的词 。

关于people 用were 不用 was 这种题og 大全上大把， 你搜索一下就看到了。

同意选A，这里的Russian不可能特指某个俄国人，也不是某个俄国人的集合，还有后面的代词him 指向了a famous writer，这里只能是泛指，所以这里的代词its有问题。A中的结构是by sb in doing sth，我觉得逻辑上没有问题（后面的him）发出者只能是Russian。
