This is scientific Americans American's sixty second science. I'm Karen Hopkin. Kellen Hoptin. This will You should just take a minute.
Oh, what a tangled web weweave.Or so it also we may seem. because many social networks eventuallyevolved into just one of just two states. We either are the all get along or an on bridgeable dividedevelops. And the a newmathematical model can predict which it will we'llbe. ,findings laid out Findings layout in the procedings proceedings of the national academy of sciences.
Consider a the relationship triangle.ArtArthur and Carl don't like each other. But Bill is friendlywith them both.Bill will probably try to convince Arthur Art and Carl to get along. But Arthur Arth and Carl are telling Bill that the other guysare guy's not good. You don't need to be a math whiz amad with tosee that,as As timegoes on, eithereveryone would be friends or Bill is gonna have has to pick a side.
Now picture a network made up of these triangles, which is what were scientists did in the their computer model. And they found these this theoraticaltheoretical social network producesproduced either global harmony or all-out all that wardepending on the initial individualtriangles. The model even predicted almost allexactly the identities of all the Allied and Axis our nets of the forces during World War 2. So one way to preventglobal war may be to forge friendship between enough Arth Arthurs and Carls Carl's.
Thanks for the minute forscientific Americans American's sixty second science. I'm Kellen Hopktin.Karen Hopkin.

Consider a relationshiptriangle. Arthur and Carl don't like each other. But Bill is friendly with themboth. Bill will probably try to convince Arthur and Carl to get along. ButArthur and Carl are telling Bill that the other guy's no good. You don’t need to be a math whizto see that, as time goes on, either everyone will be friends or Bill isgonna have to pick a side.
Now picture a big network madeof these triangles, which is what scientists did in their computer model. Andthey found that this theoretical social network produced either globalharmony or all-out war, depending on the initialtriangles. The model even predicted almost exactly the identities of all the Allied and Axis forces during World WarII. So one way to prevent global war may be to forge friendships betweenenough Arthurs and Carls.
