答案是E，这我理解，可是我看题的时候首先觉得A和B中that指代的trenches是复数，所以应该用those，然后就排除了，可答案的解释中根本没有提到这个错误，请各位给个解释啊。 就觉得英语语法不严谨，总是给自己的例外找原因。

。。。。。这是that所引导的从句。。。。不是指代，A错误是因为没有E简洁，that were cut修饰trenches，E选项过去分词紧跟trenches作为修饰成分这个答案更佳

都是这么一点点过来的，加油啊，坚持。有时间的话看看白勇的语法吧，讲的挺细的。
