插入语，表示地点的状语，不是同位语，同位语需要有相同的名词性结构。

谢谢楼上的，但感觉上插入语就是2-3个词，没有那么长吧。

我觉得(in the) northwestern (part) of the State是定语从句which is (in the) northwestern (part) of the State的省略形式，不知意见如何？
