关于句尾现在分词的问题 PREP-136

这里的circling话如果放在massive planets，后面就像楼主说的修饰astronomers，但C里面，circling 修饰的应该就是前面句子里的主语 most of them

应该是两个逗号是插入语之间，删去，然后句尾的ing形式既可以修饰句子，又可以修饰名词，所以修饰的是planets

中间的most of them是插入语，完全可以将两个逗号和插入语的成分省略不看。就成了astronomers have detected more than 80 massive planets （circling other stars.）-ing紧邻在planes后面作后置定语。特别要注意一个语法点就是comma+ing和 无逗号ing的区别。comma+ing往往不做定语修饰紧邻的名词，而是一个副词性质的phrase来修饰整个句子和主句的主语。
