Resident Alien definitely does not mean green card holder~~~ If u have been in U.S. for more than 5 years, u can be classified as Resident Alien. Resident Alien is not qualified for several tax exemptions~~~

We were both wrong. According to USCIS, the term is used in three different scenarios. Green card holders are one of them.

Resident Alien

Applies to non-U.S. citizens currently residing in the United States. The term is applied in three different manners; please see Permanent Resident, Conditional Resident, and Returning Resident
