本人见识浅薄，还请各位，特别是正在美国或对美国比较了解的XDJM，多指点：

曾经道听途说，美国人很看重alumni，校友们之间如何团结，互相帮助等等，而且更因为校友这层关系不会过期作废，可以受用终生，于是很向往。

由此想：高薪水，高职位这些毕竟还是可以通过其他手段来获得，即存在可替代性，也就不成为非去top b-school读MBA不可的理由；而这校友关系网，是非成为top b-school的一员所不能获得的，因为不可替代，所以似乎竟成了主要的理由了。

又想：假如你的校友肯帮助你，到底是因为你是他的校友还是因为利益驱动？而且你自己也起码应该要够资格，因为没人愿意帮助一个阿斗。

我的问题是：美国的alumni真如传说中的那么吸引人吗？事实到底是怎样的？alumni对一个人的职业生涯的帮助到底有多大？

no matter where you are, China or USA, the rule is the same.

people only can lead you to the gate, you have to break the door and get in. Alumni will NOT help you get a decent job or great salary(unless you have personal relationship with him), but they can provide info on how and where to get it. then it is up to you to make it. Therefore, a top20 Alumni just might know much more than a regular MBA alumni.

In this society, information is the king.

Think of this: 80% open position is filled through networking. If you're an outsider, you don't even get a chance.

由此说来，能够成为这庞大校友关系网的一员可以说是读top 20 MBA的最重要的收获了。
另外说句无关的话：个人感觉如果在同一公司甚至同一部门里，校友的关系好象就起不了什么作用，有时候为免“裙带关系”之嫌还会起反作用，至少国内是这样，美国就不知道了。“裙带关系”......呵呵~，在inspire转贴的《美国MBA介绍》里最后也提到这个词。

不要指望太多，人家愿不愿帮你，也看你能给人家带来什么。这个社会是个利益的社会
