I set my career goal in the short term and in the long term, and I decide that I wanted to go to USA top schools to further my education in finance in an international setting. I expect a collision of wit in this arena to share my understanding and thoughts and to learn from my peers and professors. Right after the program, I plan to work as a risk analyst on credit or market side to get a start in my career. I want to familiarize myself with the sophisticated financial practice in the industry and get experience in analyzing different kinds of risks and proposing solutions. I also plan to get a CFA and FRM charter.
In the long term, I plan to pursue my aspiration to be a well-rounded senior risk analyst, preparing me to be a Chief Financial Officer in the industry. Thus I would expect to join a local corporation in China with social responsibility and vision. I plan to contribute my knowledge in business as well as my overseas experience to grow hand by hand with this local corporation. We would break into the overseas market, and my experience of managing risk with global perspective would play a key role for us to compete and thrive in a global context. I am very open-minded, and flexible with future changes. Yet, my long term aspiration would drive me all along my way until my consummation.
I decide that now is the best time for me to pursue my Master degree in Finance at a top institution as University at Buffalo, because I see my lack of systematic financial perspective. Thus, receiving training to understand the mathematical tools with a strategic understanding of business decision-making through University at Buffalo would greatly help me to ingest my knowledge and help me pave my way for my career. Personally speaking, I want to get out of my comfort zone to get an international experience in order to open my horizon. It always excites me to be immersed in such a challenging yet congenial environment.
Buffalo's international perspective and research-oriented focus would lay me a strong foundation to pursue my career. With peer classmates and faculty members from all over the world, I would be able to share my understanding with this so diversified group of professionals and academic leaders. With the strong research-oriented teaching method of University at Buffalo, I can gain the international vision through this intellectual interaction.
What also drive s me toward University at Buffalo is the quality of its faculty. Many professors' professional expertise outside the curriculum would be highly beneficial to us as students, since we are talking about real problems with veterans. I also learned that the faculty members are very supportive, and can even remember every student’s name and character. That’s so great. I would love to be immersed in such a learning environment.
I also plan to make contribution to UB as I have been doing all along my way. I plan to join the Helping Existing Businesses and New Ventures at University at Buffalo, to learn to inspire the communities to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. I truly want to get involved in this meaningful campaign. Also I am a Chinese Zheng lover, and I started when I was 12 years old to practice calligraphy to experience the traditional Chinese culture. Engaged in many other extra-curriculum activities such as leading the community volunteer service for 2 years, I have a lot of colorful experience and stories to share. By nature, I am willing to share my thought with others, and value those contributed by others.
In short, MSF at SUNY Buffalo, an international community, will equip me with the gears to become an outstanding financial professional in this fast moving integrated business world in the short run, and will open my horizon by providing me with a competitive gateway to the world of business in the long run. I expect a challenging yet meaningful experience at SUNY Buffalo.
