 顶一个，这句话到底怎么翻译呀？句意上感觉spawned和extending修饰filigree理解不通啊。filigree到底啥意思啊？

我觉得可以这样理解，他这里打了个比喻，把fungus比作filigree，为的是更加直观，of mushrooms and rootlike tentacles 进一步说明这是一种什么样的filigree，spawned和extending的确是修饰filigree的，但是filigree是fungus的喻体，所以spawned和extending在语法上修饰filigree，实则修饰fungus，不知道对不对

同意Vincent的说法

句中giant fungus前有个A，表示fungus只有一个。再看后面，可以这么理解：an interwoven filigree修饰的是a giant fungus,of后面的 mushrooms和rootlike tentacles一起诠释这个giant fungus或者是interwoven filigree。如果考虑到就近修饰的话，那么后面的spawn和extending就应该是指filigree了...这么解释会不会有一些牵强了?...这么说的话那后面的sprawn和extend无论指fungus还是指filigree都其实是在指同一个东西了...

哦 还有一点 文中and连接的sprawned by用的是被动并且接了by 表示这个覆盖面积很大的东西是被a single fertilized spore大量繁殖 后面的extending可以理解成这个覆盖面积很大的东西是被大量繁殖后依靠自己的力量扩张到more than 30 acres 所谓被动主动 是看能否通过自己的能力完成这个事情吧 如果extend和sprawned并列改成extended 那么它就没有后面by的这个对象了

这么样解释可以么...请NN指点..

个人觉得这两种说法最靠谱..
把句意看一下,就会发现不可能去修饰tentacles(触角)..
但是我还有另外一个问题,OG上说:
Spawned refers to something
that happened in the past, while extending
refers to something that continues into
the present.


这个说法我表示不能理解,spawned在这里不应该是表示孵化是被动的、extending是主动的吗?为什么会解释成一个是发生在过去,一个延续到现在呢?感觉说不通啊~

抓的这个问题我也有，不知道抓抓弄明白了没~我也觉得用主动被动就能解释了，为什么跟时态还有关系了。
