从句子意思上理解，AD之间 D表达的风清楚 用was dated balabala做句子主干 后面makeing的结构是结果状语 修饰主干恰到好处
 A句子主干Fossils made it the earliest known mammal of the Greater Antilles Islands.完全不知道它想表达什么呀

现在完成时表示动作发生于过去，结果对现在有影响，这个fossils被dated at 34 million years old是已经发生了的动作，但是对现在有影响——making it the earliest...，（PS：making在这里是make的ing形式，作结果状语，所以说是对现在有影响），所以现在完成时用在这里是最准确的吧！
如果一定要用一般过去时，把D中的have been dated at...making...改成were dated at...having made...从语法角度讲好像也没有大错？只是意思就变成，fossils是过去发现的，在过去的那个时间里，sloth成了最古老的植物（但是现在不一定还是最古老的）。但是即使这样，也没有have done完成时态表示对现在的影响好。

这样解释对不？

关于A，我觉得最大的问题是主干的逻辑意思不对，提炼下A的结构：
Fossils (found ___, and dated ___,) made it _____.

第一，从逻辑上看，我用括号包围的部分应该是noun modifier that modifies "fossils", 那么这里标点符号就存在严重问题，应该是以下两种表达之一：
Fossils found ___ and dated ___ made it _____.  （无逗号）
Fossils, found ___ and dated ___, made it _____.  （一前一后逗号成对）

第二，还是从逻辑上看，是"dated at ...."造成了"made sloth the earliest known mammal ..." 这个大家都能理解吧
所以A的句子逻辑就不对，而正确句子D，恰恰体现了这种逻辑关系

至于pronoun ambiguity的问题，看这里：

我很支持这里的观点，说不要轻易用咱认为的pronoun ambiguity来作为唯一理由排除选项，因为GMAT里面pronoun ambiguity的标准没那么stringent. 这题A选项的逻辑问题很严重，见上述分析。
