not but强调的仅仅是个体的自身，而rather than强调的是比较关系。

not ... but仅仅表示自己做了什么，而没做什么，并不强调两者间的比较，换言之，比较对象做什么没有暗示；

而rather than则强调了自己做了A，而没做B，但比较对象却恰恰相反，做了B，而没做A，强调比较关系。

我還發現一個小技巧，就是在解比較類型的題目是

rather than 優於but not, 而but not 又再優先於instead of

也就是rather than > but not > instead of

using前没有省略什么；by表达方式，using也表达方式，所以留一个就行了。
