先谢过~~本人语法不好,请牛人们看看文中语法有木有问题啊~及各种其他问题~ Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is more important for students to understand ideas and concepts than it is for them to learn facts.
It is not rare to see that a number of students learn the knowledge by just remembering the facts because they're not willing to or have difficulty in understanding the ideas and concepts. This phenomenon is strongly opposed by numerous people who place importance on real understanding of knowledge. From my point of view, I agree with the latter one. I believe understanding ideas and concepts is far more important than just learning facts.
First of all, understanding ideas and concepts can facilitate the memorizing process and save the students a lot of time. When the students grasp the essence of certain concepts and make the connections between the ideas clearly, they will find it easy to keep those knowledge in heart. For example, a student major in chemistry will have no difficulty in learning the numerous scientific terms and the results of chemical reactions if he understands the nature essence of the reactions and even do the experiments himself. And with the time saved, the students can absolutely have access to more knowledge, which is important for their academic performance. Instead, the remembering of the rigid and unfamiliar facts will cost the students a lot time, and they may have to spend a longer time reviewing the knowledge again and again because it's also very likely for them to forget all about what they have learned in a relatively short period of time.
What's more, students learn knowledge in order to use them to solve practical problems. Only by understanding the ideas and concepts can they master the usage of certain facts. When they know the essence of ideas, they've acquired a method for speculation or a pattern to deal with similar problems. Needless to say, they are the key points in learning, and this learning habit is beneficial for their future development. For instance, a economy student who just learning the economical facts in the past without understanding the real cause may feel blocked when he comes to analyze the potential economical trends because he fails to have the ability to put what he has learned into practice. If this happened unfortunately, the learning process has become less meaningful.
From what have been discussed above, it shows quite clearly that understanding ideas and concepts is far more important than learning facts. |
