I work with a lot of Chinese students preparing to take the TOEFL iBT, and the Speaking section tends to be one of the most difficult. So I'd like to offer a series of tips that have helped students do better on the Speaking section.
TIP #1: Don't rush. Many students seem to think that the more words you say the better your score will be. This isn't the case. For one, when students rush, they tend to a) stop and start a lot, b) repeat themselves a lot, c) make grammatical mistakes.
Slowing down and speaking very clearly, in an organized way, will actually improve both the quality and *quantity* of the content of your response. Try it in your preparation, and see if it works for you.
Let me know what you think.
