(E) nor are not
但是，为什么nor 不对。。。并且我一开始选了or are.....请问怎么做这道题。。。

首先根据前面do not have判断句意为否定，排除AC（E也可以在此时排除，因为用双重否定，而且表达awkward）
然后nor前面的谓语动词是do，而后面be likely to have的结构需要一个be，因此该系动词不能省略，需要补出系动词和其主语。

darkbaby给出的例句里read和write是两个平行的动词，所以被前面的cannot引领否定，并不是or表示否定~
比如在本题中do not have，后面如果是一个同have平行的动词，就无需再否定了比如
I do not have or like banana（谎话！我最喜欢了！）
而本题中的平行对象则是do not have中的do，因此需要用nor表示否定

(a) and (b) don't have a tensed verb ("likely to have" contains only an infinitive - not what we want here).
