这题我是这么做的：

(C) for all their advertised conformity, now appear that they were  -----appear that they were...时态不对

(D) despite all their advertised conformity, now appears as ----还是主谓不一致

(E) with all their advertised conformity, now -----sentence fragment

所以答案只能是A。 答案是比较出来的。而且appear=seem时，固定搭配是appear to be.
