细节我就不说了，你觉得这么不尊重我的推荐人会写出什么东西来？Neutral是不可能的，不夸张的说，如果是真正的Neutral，用到Top MBA的推荐信上就等于是Negative. 同意吗？ It's a big big deal.  100分是满分，(GT, Essay, Recom, CV, ....每一部分都很重要，每一部分都要在及格线以上，某一项稍微差一点点其他项也许可以用超强来弥补，但是如果任何一项搞砸了，其他的再强也是没法补的，更不用说推荐信的绝对重要性了。再说Top school的推荐信是半个小时一个小时内随便写一下就行的吗？就字数都不够。（我当然和他做过大量沟通，....，发生了，就不多说没有用的事情了。）没关系，这是我的个案（当然也有人帮我evaluate过），但是你的发言对其他申请人有误导作用，我不得不强烈纠正之，呵呵。

希望有更多人讨论essay的话题。我看了原来写的东西，的确同一个故事可以提高的地方还有很多，就是不知道写同一个故事合适否。

lz还是找个有经验的人帮你evaluate一下吧
按你的描述,你的推荐人绝对不能算搞砸了,依我看算neutral,至少绝对不是disaster
量化一点,如果说100是满分,45给面试(面试占25分),60给录取,你的推荐人这个错误大概会造成的影响是+0,或者-1~3,你觉得是个big deal么?

当然我这么说不中听,lz自己再多想想吧

我本来写了1k字,不过删了,没啥可argue的
我觉得你看完整个thread应该很容易得出结论(显然不推荐用老故事),只是你自己不太愿意相信而已

但是每个人的case都不一样,还是自己judge吧,不管对错,必须相信自己

如果那个学校真的是LZ心仪学校.那我建议你apply前做以下工作.
1. 去学校visit campus, 和ad office的人当面聊聊. 得到最有效的信息. 这个很重要
2. 重新找推荐人.
3. eassy全部重写的可能性不大.估计也写不来更好的东西了. 所以,建议找专业人看下, 不重写但可以最大程度进行修改. 提升整个eassy的竞争力.
4. reapply的那篇eassy一定要花大力气写.
5. 别把鸡蛋放一个篮子里. 重新选学校,重新定位.

我相信！当然有新故事更好！是用一个远不如老故事有分量但是新的故事呢？还是重写有分量的老故事呢。这是re apply最难的地方。

Reapply 比apply还难，是客观事实。至于应不应该reapply，当然因人而异。没有自信也就不用apply了。

很赞的总结！谢了。

1. 对于大部分不在美国的申请人Campus visit 还是一个不容易的选择，时间金钱耗不起。
2. 推荐人肯定重选。
3. 没有更好的故事情况下，我只能写老故事，但是要达到极大的差异，让人即使同时连读两篇文章，也不会觉得boring，因为是从不同的角度，用不同风格的语言写的。这真是比第一次apply还难多了，但是没办法。（ 建议？）
4. reapply的essay有什么具体的建议或者idea吗？？
5. 会重新选校的，要不就在一棵树上了。

另外, 不晓得你去年申请的情况, 如果你是申请多家都被拒的话,那除了推荐信, 你的essay可能也出了问题.

我没有否认essay可能是原因，我会提高的。只是说推荐信搞砸肯定是原因。

我的意思是是否有具体的巧妙的idea如何表达一年的提高，如果干巴巴的写，我的GT提高了，我带团队了，我做了个更大的项目，.....似乎还是不够。有没有好的成功例子分享。谢谢。

不需要用巧妙的idea表达,直接讲.把story讲的清楚,详实.

I am not that stupid to repeat the essays without any changes in re application : )

For sure I would replace with new story, but only if possible.  When it comes to some "most" experience, it is really hard to replace so I will re-write it from totally diferent angle.  My question is what will Adcom think when they see the same case but it seems you learnt something different from it? ( it is not reasonable).

Sorry dude, this doesn’t strike me as a good idea.  If it is possible, it is worth a shot.  But most stories only have one truly real, realistic lesson.  I would again try to find NEW stories—or at least different PORTIONS of the same story to  tell.  The same story would strike the adcom as being just a bit…odd.  J  Do you not have any great new stories to tell dude?

When I say "story", it actually refers to a context. It is the most striking experience for me so far. I do have other stories but no better than this one. the new story must happen in last one year, right? otherwise why didn't you use it last time?
I will chose to write different small story or from different angle under the same background ( compared with last year's essay, the final essay will be 50% duplication in terms of content, but only 10 to 20% duplication in terms of sentences. and use totally different tones and ways to describe the same situation. advice?)

Another important reason is to the balance between re-application and new application.  It is like to sacrifice the new application schools to re application, if I give up the most striking story.

I am happy to continue discussion on any topics regarding re-application this year. Thanks everyone for advices.
