我觉得as...作介词短语修饰一个名词是可以的。只是名词之间不对应。 是the use of essential items as the protection ，而不是essential items as the protection.

As 不一定只在regard 和think of 之后才能加名词用啊~。作为什么什么的 不就可以直接用嘛~如下面句子：
