2. 为什么说"they"没有呢？他不是明确指“sports”吗？
3. 请问有谁明确解释下“which”和“in which”用法？我经常把它们混淆，有时候不知道那个“in”出现的干嘛的...

it指代biathlon

仅供参考，不确定回答完全正确。
1）严格来说，"; it combines"或", which"也可以，但前者更好，后者which离指代对象太远，并列句则不存在这个问题。
2）sports不能combines，非有效表达。从逻辑上来讲，it很显然是指代biathlon。
3）介词+which：在从句中作状语；which在从句中作名词性成分，如主语或宾语。

看曼哈顿语法有个解释：
代词若在从句中做主语，那么他指代主句的主语，无论距离相隔甚远。此题逻辑应该也是这样。

本人盲点：总认为代词就近指代。

另外，in which 和 which，也受益了，但是还是不是很明白“介词+which：在从句中作状语”，它们起到的作用是什么？
或者我再复习复习，找找prep上的解释。

总结：
还是要注重逻辑make sense，再去分析语法。
