A   therefore不是连词，一个句子两个动词删
D  the reason that 一般都错，太多结构比这个好，比如说because
C  was attempting 表示过去一段时间尝试，不符合常识，而且在gmat中，过去进行时一般都是错的，遇到的时候想一想符不符合逻辑，不符合直接删，还有C没有主句重伤！
B 同c  还有when 表示一个时间点，was doing 表示过去一个时间段，不符合
