问道题目，答案是C，我想问下，当中的presuming such life forms left fossil traces to begin with算是插入语吗？另外presume后面的宾语从句后面不用加that的吗？大家还知道哪些动词的宾语从句后面是不用加that的？我知道say后面好像不用加that的

动词ing作状语。。。可以提前或者插中间。。persume (that) 省略了
BDE有if表“是否”，直接杀，A用persuming... having...时态不对，杀
就是C了。。

分词一共可以做2中状语，一种是结果状语，一种是伴随状语，这里好像一个都不是唉？

2楼分析的很对啊，LZ不要太纠结去套他到底是什么状语 （可能是因为本人特别怕那些术语。。。见谅），而是应该直接剖析句子的逻辑结构。看出首先他是presume (that)....后面自然要跟一个独立的结构。同时whether后面也是要跟一个独立结构。考试的时间很紧张，直接whether的方法排除BDE，A的presume后面结构悬垂，C正确。
