如果they是指代women为什么是they were？要补全也应该是to them under吧

句子中women好像没有和be动词的搭配关系阿

it指age，

more babies were born to women 是完整的结构，后面的结构只是比较年龄，做修饰成分

B。than born。省略的原则是必须能还原，且能通顺。born很奇怪啊，只是over the age和under the age的比较为什么要born？前者没有动词born直接作用于age 啊，作用于age的就是over

C。貌似很同，但是前提是前句也是一样的结构，即women are over the the age of thirty ，然后就才能加than they were

D和E类推

所以就是over the age和under the age的比较而已

原来也选C的，现在明白问题出在哪里了

在比较级后面是不可以随便出现they,it这些有明确指代的词的，因为比较的是同类但不是同一物

如果用than they were,they 应该指代babies，同时这表示they就是那些born to women over hte age of thirty的babies,同样的babies怎么可能又born to wemen over the age of thirty 又born to that under the age of thirty呢？这就出现了逻辑上的错误.所以应该要用those来代

B也不对，因为一般重复动作在than后面只要用助动词来表示就够了，如果用born这个实意动词，在O记里应该算是awkward。

所以，按理说应该是more babies were born to women over the age of thirty than (those were to women) under it.
