答案E，其实我是想问下这个句子的结构是怎样的吖？我找不到主谓宾……还是根本就不需要主谓宾，那这是一个什么句子吖……

这道题读起来是很怪怪的~但是多读几遍发现，这题目比较的是independent institutions of higher education  $8,000 a year ) 和independent institutions of higher education  （ over $16,000）之间数量的对比。

主干部分就是 many independentinstitutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a
year ，然后比较的是这种institutions 的数量， 然后它就把more than three times as 放在了many of independent institutions  的前面表示比较的是数量，然后把后半部分as  those charging ...放在了主干部分的句尾.
自己的一些看法，也不知道是不是有点道理~

悲了个剧的怎么读都觉得不顺~你觉得它是要表达这个意思吗？

我觉得就是这个意思~但不知道它为啥要写的这么怪异。。。这句子长得太丑鸟

像风一样离去

前面有个as many，后面没个as多不爽！

而DE中，D是as直接加动词，我记得只有than和but有这种奇异的用法吧，as many as？它好像没有这么先进。

E的话，我记得tony大牛的总结好像有as many as+动词的话直接用-ing。

不知道我说的对不对，欢迎拍拍哈。

争议了两年的题了。今儿看了这道题的不少帖子。说下小弟的观点（D）：
首先。原句，也就是A选项的逻辑未必是正确的。所以没准儿A就不是作者的思路呢~

其次。主要争议点无非就是
“收8000以下的教育机构”的数目是“收16000以上的教育机构”的数目的三倍（原文及E的意思），
或者
教育机构收了“16000以上”三倍数目的“8000”（D）

说两点反对E的理由：
1)如果E用there be句型表述才更完整
There are more than three times as many independent institutions of higher education that charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a year as those charging  over $16,000.而补不补出there be其实逻辑意思差异很大。
2）就像上面的例句小弟加了that把后面的成分变成修饰语一样。如果不加的话，其实E的原句是拿一个完整的句子（independent institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a year）在对比一个名词(those)。很不整齐不像GMAT的风格。而且退一万步讲，就算实际上是省略了that（如果语法允许的话），那也会造成表意不明。

说一点支持D的理由
小弟觉得其实是为了强调 3 times，所以把 3 times提前了。原文的正常语序是：independent institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a year more than three times as many as charge over $16,000.
注意哦，这是木有人工添加任何成分得出来的句子哦~是不是很顺哈~木有歧义吧~
只不过逻辑和原文不同罢了，但是谁也没说A选项就是正确的逻辑意思嘛~
所以。小弟支持D哈~
