请教一个题，关于比较句 和 with

(E)  extinction, now with numbers five times greaterthan    

答案是A，而我选了E
A  extinction;its numbers are now five times greater than they were句子和句子的比较,才是对的，注意是时态变化了，所以 they were不能省
E    不知道为什么

A里面的its为虾米可以指代gyrfalcon。。。manhattan再次让我失望。。。

E句子意思变了：原句是要表达数量的变化，但是E用with引导独立主格，表示补充说明，错误。

是因为分号把句子隔开了？
