MFE选校纠结啊。。UMN Vs NYU-Poly

在UMN financial Mathematics & NYU-poly MFE 中选。。

UMN FM：学校还行，数学系不错！但不清楚这个项目怎样，这个是Professional Master's degree...07年开的。UMN的数学我觉得重点放在PHD上吧。Location is not so good compared to NYC. BTW，课程选择余地少，还有个prepartory courses。。。要花掉一年。

NYU-poly: Great Location, 找实习方便些，总共费用减去奖和UMN差不多，但program在NYC不行，MFE在NYC太多。。但事在人为，who knows... BTW 这个学校争议比较大，就怕实习也找不到，东西也没学到。。。

I heard some that UMN's program is too new to be competitive in the job market...And twin cities don't seems prosperous in its financial industry.

don't get obsessed with poly's location man, in NYC we have candidates from Columbia (MSFE, MAFN, MSOR, Stats, MPA, hell even EE/CS/ME..you name it), NYU, Baruch, Rutgers, Upenn, Yale, Princeton, etc. that rank above Poly's MFE in terms of Wall St. job accessibility

but yeah UMN is a regional school and you'll prolly also be looking for job opportunities in the north. check their website to see where did they place their students.

yeah...So,  in twin cities, since UNM is flagship there, maybe it is easier to get a chance than poly though there's not much intern for us...

even in NYC, UMN's reputation is on par with other big state schools like OSU/MSU/PSU/UWisc etc. which place a certain number of their students on Wall St. Not a target, but a more decent choice than Poly.

yeah...But in some forum like quantnet, some said UMN FM is like a joke compared to its MS or PHD in mathematics...and someone called ANDY said its director is not so responsible for its program and will step down soon...And there isn't any updated figures can tell about the placement...
