1. u don't need to retake it, ur gmat is OK.
2. I think u have a chance to get an offer from top70, as long as u apply as many schools as u can. Application fee is not a problem for u since u have internship, right?
3. (1)找老师要项目做 volunteer to be an RA (2) take finance seminar course to get a basic understanding of what phd does, also try to impress the prof
4. No, ur background is OK. different school has diff preferences. This is also the reason why I let u apply as many as possible.
5.U don't need to 套磁 if u know nth about research. In that case, 套磁 may hurt u rather than help u.

别太纠结于排名，人家ASU也不是top 70，很多项目不都牛逼得很，类似的学校有不少。非*名的学校不念，这个想法挺幼稚的。

背景挺好的~ 值得一试。 还是建议多申几所吧， 因为finance 的录取与否还是有相当一部分运气的成分的。

-- top.70 should be easy, but there is few value after top.20 which is very hard to get in. you can always try but I still believe work is a better alternative if your determination in PhD is not strong enough.

@fzxc613, don't equal short message as mean, that message has the same conclusion as above one but saves me a lot time.
