不同意是插入语：it claims 是what从句语中的主谓部分；what从句又在整个句子中作主语。

我的问题就是我不太理解what it claims is the world's smallest....中的it claims的作用。感觉是插入语。因为我觉得把it claims去掉，并不影响句子结构。

The electronics company has unveiled what (it claims) is the world's smallest network digital camcorder, which is as long as a handheld computer and weighs less than 11 ounces.

juan mm，同意Jerry的解释，这里it claims决不是插入语！

如果是，去掉it claims应该不影响原句的意思，但是主句却变成：
The electronics company has unveiled what is the world's smallest network digital camcorder, which is as long as a handheld computer and weighs less than 11 ounces.
翻译一下：“...公司对外公布什么是世界上最小的网络数字可携式摄像机，....”那么请问到底什么是世界上最小的网络数字可携式摄像机呢？

而原文的意思是：“....公司对外公布他们所声称的是世界上最小的网络数字可携式摄像机，....”

请参考OG210:

我认为是插入语，如果不是插入语，肯定要加that,因为后面是一个从句，而且，插入语的特征是：把它拿掉之后，句子的语法结构和语义仍是完整的，只是缺少了一些表达上的精确性。les说插入语去掉后意思不变的说法是错误的.og210是同位语补充。
