February 21, 2011. Shanghai campus --CEIBS 4th MBA China Discovery Week began today and will run until February 25. Over the next few days, CEIBS faculty will put aside their standard business curriculum to share their insights on contemporary issues. In addition to their regular audience of first year MBA students (this time from the 2010 class), the speakers will -- for the first time ever -- also address a carefully selected group of incoming students (from MBA 2011). Students will get up-to-date information on China-relevant topics by studying with experts such as: Prof. Hellmut Schutte: Competition in China and its Global Implications for Multinationals
Professor Hellmut Schütte is Distinguished Professor of Management at CEIBS where he holds the European Chair for Global Governance and Sino-European Business Relations. He is particularly interested in aspects of business competition in China and other BRICs.
Prof. Xu Xiaonian: Can China Save the World?
As one of China's best economics researchers and an expert on the country’s capital markets, Prof. Xu is a thought-provoking speaker who often challenges collective wisdom. He will discuss the rebalancing of the economies of 2 global giants -- China and the U.S.
Prof. Xu Bin: Will China Catch the U.S.?
Prof. Xu is Professor of Economics and Finance, Associate Dean (Research) at CEIBS. His current research focuses on the global and Chinese economy, multinational enterprises in China, and trade and finance issues within emerging markets. This time, he will discuss key issues in China’s rapid economic growth with MBA students.
Prof. Zhang Wei: Public Policy and Non-Market Strategy
Business environment has its market and nonmarket components. The session aims to introduce the relationship between policy and politics, as well as between market and nonmarket strategy. It will also help students understand the importance of integrated strategy and offer a few general rules that apply when a company competes in the nonmarket environment.
