Good Question, For CBS's Question #1 it is important to mention your past experiences as you talk about your career goals. You need to talk about your achievements to convince adcom that your goals are in line with your background and strength. Every successful Columbia application tells a story, one that draws a coherent line between your undergrad years, your work experience, your professional aspirations, and your personal life, ending with a pitch to as to why you're a fit with CBS, what you will add, and why you need an MBA now in your career. My advice on Essay #1 is that you should spend at least 150-250 words talking about your current career and about the skills that you will need from an MBA program. This will give the adcom background and context for your application. I am from CBS class of 2010, you can ask your questions on the curriculum here and i am happy to answer any questions that you may have for CBS.
Hope this helps!
