humble不会是指rural吧，因为humble除通常的含义以外，还有：
1、having a low social class or position；
2、simple and ordinary, but useful or effective
而rural并不具备上述的任何意思，虽然“农村”在中国文化中可能暗含上面两个意思，但是在英文里没有的。
哦，对了，modest除了谦虚以外，还有：
1、not very great, big, or expensive （这个非常常见）
其他不说了，这个含义和humble上面的第二个是吻合的。

题中的humble修饰的中心词我记得是countrycide或者是房子。刚才查了下朗文，相关释义如下：

modest: not very great, big, or expensive. 例句：a modest house with a small garden

rural:like the countryside or reminding you of the countryside

楼上的说法应该是正确的，即选modest来替换humble。
