-- by 会员 taurusjudy (2010/10/10 15:42:36)

Center for Nonprofit and Public Leadership
http://nonprofit.haas.berkeley.edu/

http://nonprofit.haas.berkeley.edu/board.asp

GSVC:  关注 social impact, social entrepreneurship 的 Global Social Venture Competition:
http://www.gsvc.org/
http://entrepreneurship.berkeley.edu/business_competitions/gsvc.html

The Global Social Venture Competition is the largest and oldest student-led business plan competition for social ventures from around the world. The mission of GSVC is to catalyze the creation of sustainable social ventures that are not only financially sound, but bring about positive social or environmental change in the process.

GSVC celebrated its 10th Anniversary last year with a record breaking 315 plans from 149 universities representing 23 countries from around the globe.

Haas 还有一个 Center for Responsible Business,专攻 CSR 方面:
http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/responsiblebusiness/
http://mba.haas.berkeley.edu/specialties_06.html

Net Impact club:
 http://groups.haas.berkeley.edu/netimpact/

还有 GIH (Global Initiatives) at Haas:
http://globalinitiatives.wordpress.com/about/

Electives:
Speaker Series: Market-Based Approaches to Poverty
Speaker Series: Microfinance

MBA 294.4 – Market-Based Approaches to Poverty Alleviation
http://globalinitiatives.wordpress.com/speaker-series-classes/gih-speaker-series-class-falla/

MBA 294.6 – Introduction to Microfinance
http://globalinitiatives.wordpress.com/speaker-series-classes/fall-b-class-microfinance/

Speaker Series: Market-Based Approaches to Poverty:

This course will identify and examine approaches to impacting poverty through the use of market-based mechanisms. Empowering people to make economic choice can yield large standard of living benefits, and markets not only empower people, but also allow them to make choices that are best for themselves.  Several examples will be looked at from the non-profit, corporate and social enterprise sectors with a strong emphasis on non-US markets with the goal of developing an overall framework for market-based approaches and how to develop them. Wherever possible current practitioners will be brought in to share their experiences regarding what works and what doesn't.

The class will begin with an overview of the international development landscape and why there is a rapidly growing interest in market-based interventions among the development and business communities.  Each class will focus on a new theme ranging from innovations in product and service design, business models for social enterprises, social financing mechanisms, and creative and effective partnerships. Throughout we will look at practical examples of these approaches.  The course will conclude with student presentations that examine specific organizations and the approaches they have taken.

The course brings together advice and best practices from successful practitioners and institutions as well as from those providing the capital and business approaches for their success.  It will also serve as an excellent venue for challenging traditional approaches to development, while exploring the limits of the market as a poverty reduction tool.

Speaker Series: Microfinance:

The course explores why and how microfinance operations have grown to provide financial services to poor and low-income people on a sustainable basis.  The course brings together advice and best practices from successful practitioners and institutions around the world as well as new technology startups targeting the industry.  This course will provide students with an introduction to microfinance as an important development effort in the war against poverty.  It will also serve as an excellent forum to learn about current challenges and debates in the world of microfinance.  The final paper will be described and assigned during the class.

Haas的 part-time MBA的正式名字叫 EWMBA: Berkeley Evening & Weekend MBA program,  也就是在职 MBA,即一般所说的 Part-Time MBA。 Berkeley Full-time MBA.

其实 Haas 总共有三种 MBA 学位 programs:  Full-Time MBA Program, Evening & Weekend MBA Program,  Berkeley-Columbia Executive MBA Program.
