Thanks John.

But apart from CBS, which other top 16 school has ED?

Hey there—Tuck, Duke, and Columbia have offered ED programs this past year.  In years past, Virginia, UNC, and Rochester have also offered non-binding programs in years past.  But we wont know for sure who it is this year, until the programs release
their dates, essays, programs, plans, etc…

One more question: what about location, Boston VS Minniapolis?
-- by 会员 askwind (2011/5/5 22:44:55)

Hey there.  Well if I were you, I would prefer Boston.  But then again, I went to HBS!  J  So I am a bit biased. But Boston is an amazing city—tons of students (not just MIT and Harvard), great culture, great energy, clean, comfortable, and historic (by US standards anyway.) Minneapolis is just fine—some great opportunities there for sure.  but I like Boston better.  After all, I have some very fond memories there. Boston also has nice access to NYC, which is nice…

Hi Jon,

I was on round 2 waitlist of Duke. The round 3 decision just released today (i was told by Duke that the wl application will be reviewed on round 3 and after),  and I am still on WL now.

Before round 3 decision release date, I submitted a letter to updates my application, sent two recommendations, and did campus visit. During my campus visit, I talked to one faculty and one assistant director (who is connected to admission committee). They both said they are impressed and sent good words about me to admission committee. The faculty  even emailed me and said " I am very impressed and I'd like you to join the program. I have asked the assistant director to email admission committee about your application".

But now, I am still on wl today. I was told Duke accept WL even at the very beginning of August.  I am wondering how much hope I still have? What should I do during the following months?  Should I follow up with the faculty and assistant director who talked to me during my campus visit?

Please help, Jon. Thank you very much.

Hello there my friend.  It sounds as though you do have a good chance—all you can do is…what you’ve been doing.  Keep reaching out to these folks.  Ever 3-4 weeks, a new update.  Let them know that they are your first choice by far—but you are correct, folks will be admitted off their waitlists as late as August—so yes, you need to keep in front of these people.  You DO still have hope—they will be admitting folks for months to come, especially at Duke.  So keep updating them, and don’t lose hope!  We have faith in you my friend.

Okay gang, here are two more entries from the article we just wrote for a magazine in China. Ten tips on how to get into HBS. Easy, right? : )
3. Leadership, leadership, leadership. Every school likes different types of people. CBS likes future Wall Street titans. Haas like the creative types. And at Yale, everyone wants to change the world. But eeeeveryone loves a leader.
This is even more true at HBS. HBS is all about leadership—just look at their Mission Statement. “We educate leaders who make a difference in the world.” HBS is all about leadership. If you don’t have an app that reflects this…you will need to write it again. Leadership is critical for an HBS application; prove to us that you have this background already, and at HBS they will see the opportunity to develop a leader who will, well, “make a difference in the world.”
4. HBS accepts people, not profiles. If all you have written about in your application is your work experience, you are in trouble! Schools don’t accept profiles; profiles are boring. Profiles don’t inspire people. People inspire people, or at least they can. For every three stories about your work, there should be one about some kind of personal accomplishment. Show who you really are. Especially for Chinese clients, it is so easy for American adcoms to write Chinese candidates off as “very technical.” Or “well he doesn’t have the soft skills.” So beat them to the punch! PROVE to admissions committees that you are more than just a perfect quant section on the GMAT. Get personal. One thing we tell all our clients, is that if you can show all your applications to your friends without being embarrassed, your writing isn’t personal enough.
There ya have it. One more entry from this article gang, then we're back to answering questions from the peanut gallery. Stay tuned...
