我觉得B的解释有问题，at the same time supporting和supporting  the same time 是有细微的语义差别的,所以排除B

supporting的动作发出者是they, 所以用主动了。

我觉得while不算是转折吧，while类似 类比   ==just as    so   ?

因为but前面的那个句子有两个破折号，所以我觉得可以把破折号中间的内容看做是插入语。
那么but需要平行的内容就是they denounce goverment, 所以不可以用supporting.

我刚刚也跟LZ问了差不多的一个题目， 这里给你分享一下

我一开始选错的原因是觉得while at the same time需要考虑平行的问题，所以选了while at the same time they have introduced some 100,000 dangerous chemical pollutants, having

while at the same time后面的东西和have improved平行，having最后做伴随状语。

虽然我这一点上还是想不明白，为什么这里while at the same time不需要考虑平行，但是我这个题目的笔记写着：
用了sb do...while doing的结构，省掉了they

如果(B)改为 they denounce big government--they say that government is doing too much and has become too powerful--but supporting  at the same time。这样正确吗？

这2个句子我觉得其实是一样的呀。

2) used to show a contrast, can be
A do while(A) doing or A do while B do
