Official starting date for registration. Most of the students have not arrived yet.
I've been in the city for almost 2 weeks. I LOVE CHICAGO! I spent a lot of time talking to the students here (today during the registration process). Now I am giving my feedback for you guys.
The academic advisor is great, very nice lady and cute too. Patient, professional and cheerful these are really important for new students trying to settle down in Chicago ASAP. Volunteer students , it is true all chinese and indian people. They are nice and patient too, english and communication skills are very good.( I am from english speaking country, so, i can judge !) Orientation has not begun yet, but according to the schedule , it will be fun especially for the boat curising and city touring. I will update after the events.
Went through the PCA oral test which is similar to ESL test ( english test for foreign students). I had no problem with it because I lived in english speaking country for over 6 years. My opinion for the test is, it is a "MUST HAVE" process for such business school. Language skill is definitely beyond other technical skills in financial services industry. I am great to see that the school DO test admitted students AGAIN for their english level. I am not sure about their rating criteria for this test but the test process is helpful for students to realize that they have sufficient/insufficient skills to do well in financial industry. Of course, for students who are not able to pass it, I have to say, you cannot get away from paying additional tuition for english courses - Worth it though.
---- Negative feedback: Compared to the Cass Business School in London, I think they are on same level in terms of local reputation, respectively in Chicago and London. The infrastructure of the school is below average. Classrooms are old, computer labs are just normal, student lounge is boring and the most frustrating thing is that Stuart has ONLY ONE BLOOMBERG TERMINAL. In Cass business school, there is a TRADING ROOM with over 20 Terminals either Reuter or Bloomberg. I would say, this facilities will be very very useful for Business school of this kind. So, this is not very impressive at all.
Other than that, I will give a score 7/10 to Stuart. I hope the orientation and the courses could impress me with a thumb up.
