我觉得如果我做这个题。首先排除A和B，因为和D、E比，那个it明显很诡异的，我感觉说不出什么理论，就是一种做题的感觉。

关于C选项。我觉得要看逗号。in the Sierra Nevada作为同位语，应当修饰前面的部分。但这样一来，逻辑不通。

再看D和E。区别就在最后，一个是thus，一个是and。再看划线部分后面的restricted to，是个动词吧，D选项使它没主语，如果没有一个连词连接，是说不通的。and是连词，thus是副词，副词不能连接两个动词，不然就是run-on句型了。

你的这个理解应该是正确的。反正我在XDF学习的时候老师就讲，一定要警惕副词冒充连词。

我還有一個小疑問你剛提到thus他不是連接詞 我剛打錯了  如果是,thus+Vng的話就是連接詞and改成分詞

我觉得你新说的这个题C和E的主要问题在于：

A，B，C这种结构里B是插入语，或者说算是A的同位语，对A有解释说明或修饰的作用。

这里“B”显然和前面没什么关系。
