Nowadays, there is a growing trend that people regard business people as evil. More and more people are convinced that most business people are motivated only by the desire of money. Although it is not rarely heard that some bosses maltreated their employees in cruel ways, such as refusing to pay them after the work has been done, or forcing them to work overtime, I believe the desire of money is not the only motivation of most business people. Behind money, there is happiness. People long for a happy life, so do business people. Most business people are driven by the desire of happiness. They can realize their happiness through love, interest, and philanthropy.
Firstly, love is a kind of happiness that can motivate business people. One of my best friends, Hongliang, runs a software company as his own business. He loves his parents so much that he bought a beautiful big house after earning enough money and brought his parents from their hometown to live in it. He also built a swimming pool on the roof for his father because that is the old man's favorite sport. Since his mother's hobby is cooking, he hired two chefs to communicate on cooking skills with his mother. In outsiders' eyes, Hongliang works desperately for more money but the fact is that he works hard to give his parents a leisurely life.
Secondly, personal interest is another motivation for business people. They spend their money on some money-burning hobbies, such as photography, traveling, and so on. As far as I know, Hong Luo, the chairman of Holiland cake world, has traveled a long way all over the world, including East Africa and the Arctic Ocean , to take pictures of the wild life and the nature. He is an enthusiastic traveler and photographer that money is by no means the most important thing in his life. Without these interests, probably he will feel void in his spare time even if he were the richest person in the world.
Finally, a great amount of business people are motivated by philanthropy instead of money. They are caring about the environment. Take Hong Luo as an example again, through his works, among which there are giraffes, polar bears and black swans, he calls on an action of wild life protection and a harmonious nature. He ordered all of his bakery shops to turn off the light for one hour on the last Saturday of March annually in accordance with a global event called "Earth Hour". You can never define a businessman like this as one who has only money full of his brain. Philanthropists, often heads of international companies, are really a treasure of our society. They are generous to their employees and provide job opportunities for those underprivileged people without a tiny pay back.
Admittedly, business people motivated only by the desire of money do exist. However, not most of merchants are simply driven by money. They pursue their own lives of happiness by expressing their love to their families, satisfying their personal interests and showing their mercy to the public. |
