毫无悬念的排除了A.C.D选项，纠结在B和E上。 问了旁边的一个美国同学，她义无反顾的选了B。。。还强调说：I like the word "extended"。。。 。。。望高手帮忙区分，谢谢！

本人愚见：
首先，从平行结构考虑，was sth. and did sth.不构成平行,
但如果把前半句the greatest road system was sth.用and和后面的extend sth.当做2个分开的主句看的话，后面应该是变成and it extended xxx才对吧？

另外，句意逻辑考虑的话，也是E占优，如果是B的话，翻译为：最大的道路系统是XXX高速公路，而且最大的道路系统是从北延伸到南德。不觉得很别扭吗？修饰incan highway的成分都变成修饰the greatest road了
