Yea...as I have realized.  Sure my writing here gets sloppy.  It's only an online forum and I am not going to spend the time proof reading it.  But really?  My English is bad?  LOL.

良药苦口，忠言逆耳。这8个字小学生都会，但其中的道理却不是每个人能懂。我常用英文，是应为办公室的电脑不能用中文。某人说得对，由于小学就移民来美，我的中文的确是不够好, 写中文也的确不够写英文快。但我相信在这里发言的目地是分享自己的意见和这一年来申请的经验。随便乱说一套来骗弄别人对我自己又有好处吗? 算了,讲少一点又不是我的损失...

您说的这几句，除了您自己爽以外，对别人有啥影响，很难说。是忠言还是毒药，仁者见仁。至于您的表达方式呢，同样是忠言，有的人说出来让人心悦诚服；有的人说出来让人暴跳如雷。另外呢，当然，您不是engineer,您从小学就去美国，您的softskill呱呱叫。如果您实在忙，真不该花时间和我们一般见识，该干嘛去干嘛去吧。

哈哈，我说的几句，除了给楼主泼了一下冷水之外，还有提到他申请时要注意到和表现的地方。其他人呢，暴跳如雷得把人骂了一遍之后，还不知道有什莫实际而正面的建议。iunknown你说得真是好，真不该花时间和这些人一般见识。

至于某人在哪里长篇累牍的对ENGINEER的偏见。真的大可不必理会。


从另一个文上读到的，望楼主加油：

Engineers (here we will use “engineers” to refer to anyone coming from a science
or engineering background) typically have strong quantitative skills, and that is one
reason why you will find a good number of engineers at any top business school. Coming
from engineering, however, you will find that you need to sell your interpersonal
skills, and prove that you understand the “big picture” when it comes to business.
Many business-minded engineers also enjoy the advantage of having a good overall
story for why they want to earn an MBA. Whereas a consultant or an investment banker
may have to spend a lot of time proving that she isn’t just getting her ticket punched for a
higher salary, you can craft a strong story about how you’ve mastered one discipline, and
now you want to move on to achieve a broader view of how a business is run. Admissions
officers will appreciate any evidence that you can provide that shows you understand the
importance of the functions in a company outside of its R&D department.
The stereotype that you will most likely have to overcome is in regard to your interpersonal
skills. An admissions committee will look critically for evidence that you can
reach goals that require you to work with others. Any teamwork examples that you can
provide will help you a great deal here; particularly stories that demonstrate your ability
to understand others’ motivations and to deal with them constructively. These “empathy”
examples will go a long way toward showing your ability to grow into the role of
a leader.
You can also set yourself apart through extracurricular activities that demonstrate
your interests outside of the workplace. They can show your desire to actively seek out
opportunities to make the world around you better, rather than simply waiting for an
engineering problem to be handed to you. Examples of community service, volunteering
at your church, or simply pursuing a creative or athletic passion outside of the office
will help you distinguish yourself from the other engineers in the crowd.

我认为LS给的信息并没有什么问题，本来世界就是有两面性的，多给不同角度的信息给LZ作判断不是坏事。

但须注意沟通方法，尤其是作为将要读MBA、做Business的人。

轻易站在对立面+人身攻击是Networking大忌。

俺就是普通学校的普通工程师，拿到了top15 offer。可以负责任的告诉你哪些说工程师一堆劣势的信息都是bullshit！
工程师的优势：考试能能力强，GMAT整个760+吧，ibt整个110+吧。学习能力强。读MBA前coding，读后去顶级IBD的大有人在。
劣势：沟通交流能力可能稍弱，但是很多工程师交流能力很强的，俺就是典型的一个。聊10个小时可以话题不带重复的。business sense 可能稍弱，这个问题不大。


只要你的essay别让别人看你是纯粹的tech guy mind就ok了。别人行，你肯定也行。别人不行，你也可以行，just do it!

她的原意并不是说engineer沟通能力不强.
她只是想指出这是大家的普遍stereotype, 就像大家都觉得中国人数学好,印度人很能说一样.
而这也正是engineer申请人要着重推翻的误解. 逃避否认都是没用的. 她指出来不是很好么..

咳。。。大家这好好讨论问题的，何必人身攻击，上纲上线的。我今天真是闲得，给大家抄写一段Chioma Isiadinso, former admissions board member of HBS在她的《the best business schools admissions secrets》里面写的有关engineers

Valuable Engineer Skill set: Strong with numbers; Technically advanced; Project management exposure; Doers: implementation experience（这点可以在essay和面试的时候使用）

Engineer Detractors: Poor communication skills; Rigid; Executors, not strategic or big-picture thinkers; Poor interpersonal skills

What to Do:
- Demonstrate that you have vision and that you can come up with an idea, sell it to people, and rally people behind a goal.
- Show personality besides being smart and great at your job. Show that you have a life outside work that is dynamic and interesting.
- Show that you are flexible, can go with the flow, and are not limited by only one approach or idea.
- Make sure you demonstrate your real need for the MBA to get you closer to your career goals.
- Stress your interpersonal and people-related skills and experience.
