看来我真的要放弃mba了

从去年开始准备，本来打算找不着工作就去读个书，中间工作变动一堆事儿放弃申请了，今年又折腾换了个工作，对新的工作了解越多挺喜欢的，觉得好像没有必要申请了，两年的cost opportunity还是挺大的。我新公司老板就比我大一岁，penn的under一路狂飙上来，身边的牛人都跟我说没啥必要读，赶紧工作攒经验，nyc, boston又没什么one yr program，看来我真是要含泪告别enjoy the school life once more的梦想了。不过在这里得到很多inspiration还认识不少有理想的朋友很好。不知板上的re girl和1Mhf那哥们还去读吗都？

就是，本来MBA就是不必要的事情。大家都是有各种各样的原因才去读的。

Awww, don't feel bad, I am sure things will work out for you just fine.  You can always go for your EMBA if you want to take that mid-career vacation.

As for myself, I'd say the career opportunities have definitely picked up LOTS since I applied.  I literally get 4-5 emails and about 1 call every day from headhunters, despite telling them my intention to go back to school this fall.  I thought about deferring my admission, but eventually decided against it.  To be honest I am having a bit of a career burn-out.  And I think this is a good time to take a step back and evaluate my career.  I've been very fortunate every step along the way, but I want to take a pause and try out something else, even just to come back to re pe later.  lus, I already got into a school that I like; I don't think I'd be anymore of a compelling candidate 2-3 more yrs from now.  So as you can see, it's really more personal than anything else.

If you feel burn out it is definitely a good idea to go back to school. Enjoy penn!
I am in fof now, would love to consult you about the general situation of re pe sector when you have time. What's your other intention post mba?

Happy to provide my perspective.  In general, activities are definitely picking up, but the question is whether there is / when is the double dip.  There are a lot of opportunities to recapitalize projects at a low basis right now, but the fresh equity could easily get wiped out if the recovery loses steam.  Also a lot of competitions for re pe funds, as REITs and private investors with lower cost of capital are also competing for deals.

As for myself, I would like to relocate to Asia post-MBA.  I feel like I have proven myself here, so would love to try something different while I am still young.  And my parents decided they rather be in China for retirement (more friends/family there, more convenient, etc), so I would like to be closer to them as well.
