不胜感谢!!
The lecture talks about the declination of the Easter Island's society. The professor agues that the phenomenon is due to the internal causes. However, the reading contends that it is due to the outside influence. The professor made several reason to hold her points which is contrary to the passage. First, the prosperity is the main reason to build the large stone statues. According to the professor, people in the Easter Island had extra time and energy in that time and decided to build several statues to symbol their proserity. This directly contadicts the point in the passage. Second, people cut tree logs to move the statues. The passage indicates that the disappearing of the trees is caused by the invaders. However, the professor points out the native people cut trees themselves to move the statues. This is differ to the passage. Third, the native lost their confidence to their odd god and they created a new one to instead. The passage proposes that the new religion developed is introduced by outsiders. That is differ to the lecture. |
