DE的区别主要是前面的意思不一样，我读到的D的意思是他们最后被安排的一天是为了收集，而E的意思是最后一天他们被安排来收集，E的意思更好一些...

they指代的是工人。

如果是E，那就是工人被 scheduled to collect。显然逻辑不对。

D in order to 的主语是谁 按照您的说法是说workers 但是我觉得这里主语应该是severance 谓语动词是require  就好比I eat an apple in order to be handsome, 主语是I吧？
