The two areas that have funding this year may not admit anystudents (they are having trouble finding good candidates).  Hence, they maygive up their funds, and I could offer accounting doctoral students assistantshipsfor this fall.  However, there are two problems with this idea. First, it will be too late in the year to admit students by then, and, second,that funding could be lost due to budget problems.  I do not want to admitstudents with the idea that I will have funds by the time they arrive (it maynot happen).  
Iknow that I have probably made your decision more difficult, but I want to knowhow things are in this economy.


他们的意思是不是说，funding是不guaranteed的，得去了才知道?

就说这钱本来是人家的钱，今年可能会到他手上，但是最后能不能拿到现在还不确定。他就不想现在把学生招进来，结果到时候又没有钱了。
