hku undergraduate in econ & finance. gpa 3.9+/4 one-year exchange to UC Davis. gpa 4/4 gmat 710/4.5. ielts 7.5 2 local firms' part-time or internship in hk. 1 chinese state-owned bank part-time in shanghai. math: linear algebra, multivariable calculus, intro to differential equations. stat: intro to probability and statistics 1 and 2. stat inference cs: intro to programming regular econ and finance courses for students in this major.
recommendations: 1 from UC Davis then-assistant professor in econ (now associate) who got phd from Berkeley. 1 from HKU stat professor who got phd from cambridge. 1 from HKU econ professor who got phd from princeton. (但是只在princeton的时候用了一下，因为和这个老师并没有很深交情，没有上过课，没有做过research.所以可能这个recommendation反而有点negative).
因为总体上来说还是以找工作为主，所以没有花很多的时间在grad school application上。。。导致gmat还有recommendation的质量上不够高。包括ps的写作上有点草率，每次都是赶deadline...
学校方面princeton的好也是毋庸置疑的。一直是dream school,不过被rej也是情理之中，没有花足够的时间和精力。。。 mit项目比较新。申请的时候copy and paste open questions的时候不小心把draft的最后一行和正文一起paste了。。。所以有些杯具。。。不过也是自己可能不够competitive,math和stat学的不够多。今年听说这个program招了很多大陆人。 lse的1st choice是msc finance.比较新项目吧。好像门槛蛮高。一个拿到columbia mfe的朋友也被rej了。估计自己也是不够格。。。 oxford,没什么说的。。。感觉挺顺利的，然后interview都是technical questions,我有一些不会答。。。不过好像似乎不要紧的样子。也许可能是要看看你面试的skills如何吧。
