我个人理解：（A) expressions, to which they will then respond
GMAT里面说是用which都要紧接所修饰的核心词，这里用了逗号，使得they就模糊了，是指代机器人呢，还是指代研究者。
关于primary，我就是觉得读起来primarily creating不顺口，怪怪的，意思也有点别扭。“研究者的主要目的是发明一种机器人”比“研究者的目的是主要发明一种机器人”要来得顺畅些。

但具体的语法解释还需要牛人来帮忙。

这种非语法的东西很难解释，你要不翻译成中文比较一下，看修饰goal和修饰creat有什么不同，从最开始第一句算啊。

1.  The first "they" refers to robot; the second "they" refers to researcher.... in gmat, in one sentence, 这是大忌，指代只能是唯一的。


2. Primary can only used to refer "goal".  For example, you can have primary goal and secondary goal.  But "primary" can't use for the action of "create".  要么create,要么不create,没有什么primarily create or secondarily create这么说的。我也不知道再怎么解释了。
